Days 15 & 16 - Travel to Halifax

Driven yesterdy and today 641 km
Total driven:  4911 km

In the morning we took our time.  We had to drive one and a half hours from St. John's to Argentia to take the ferry.  We found a provincial park on the way so we stopped at Butter Pot Hill park for a hike. Once there we followed the Pegwood Pond Trail.

The park is very Newfoundland.  Lots of skinny evergreens, a few birch trees, lots of water everywhere, the pictures show boardwalks;  they were used to go over multiple swamps and perhaps bogs. The grond cover is mostly moss as in the pictures below

These white flowers ... are they from the moss?  who knows but provide a white ground cover very pretty

And then Brenda found blueberries.  We had to stop to eat a few of them.

Gorgeous day, blue sky,

And then we found red moss.  I have never seen that either

And that was pretty well our farewell to Newfoundland

Our ship was there, just waiting for us

Going into the ferry

This is the most expensive room we had in this vacation, double what any holiday inn costs and this was in addition to the ticket for the ferry and the fee for the car,  The lady told us, you don't get a TV but you get a window.

The halls are narrow and very long

And here we are leaving the coast of Newfoundland

We had a good night sleep, and next morning we had breakfast on board

Shortly after that we landed in North Sydney, Nova Scotia

This was our parking deck,we were at the front of the line

And then on the road most of the day.

When we arrived to Halifax the rain had started so we stop at a Walmart to walk and after we went to the Atlanti Canada Aviation Museum.  It is a small museum but they have a nice collection.

There is Brenda demonstrating how to pilot a jet

This baby was (old) Trudeau plane when he was prime minister

And after that we went for a pizza dinner.  Tomorrow we spend the day in Halifax,
